I have a few questions about electric fans. I have my fans mounted on the back of the radiator (engine bay side). If fans are mounted like this they should be blowing air away from the radiator, not pulling air into the rad correct? My fans are mounted correctly but they are blowing air into the rad and not away from it. My car begins to overheat sometimes when I turn on my fans after driving on the highway. Is there away way to change the direction that the fan blows by changing the wiring or are some fans just met to be mounted on the back of the rad and other are made to be mounted on the front?

what?

there are pusher and puller fans.
pusher fans go infront of the radiator and push air thru the radiator toward the engine.
puller fans go behind the radiator and pull the air thru the radiator and toward the engine.

if you put pusher fans on the backside of the radiator, as your going down the highway air is being pushed thru the radiator because the car is moving. you shouldnt need fans on at all when your highway driving anyway. if air is travelling thru the radiator and then you turn on your pusher fans that will push air back to the front of the car. thats making NO FUCKING SENSE AT ALL. and the air will be trapped, inside the radiator. it cant go back because the fans are pushing it out, and it cant go forward being the cars movement is pushing it in.

some cheap fans all youll need to do is switch terminals. power negative, to, negative power. thats only if you have those types that switch.

goodluck

Yeah I was trying to my best to describe it but it came out a bit confusing. Basically I think I was sold pusher fans with my radiator kit instead of puller fans. Since the fans are mounted on the back of the radiator they should be pulling air instead of pushing air (which is the opposite of what they are currently doing). My fans are just some cheap no name 12" fans that came in a kit. You're saying that some of fans will change direction if you switch up the wiring but some won't?

flip the blades around

just flip the wires around and reverse the polarity to make them pullers, fan motors work that way.

Yep, swap your power and ground leads from the way they are now to make them pullers. Before you actually make the switch, turn car to acc and turn one of the fans on. Make sure the air is flowing towards the engine.

Awesome, I'll try it this evening.
