Hey guys so my s14 has been having this problem for a while, i have taken it to many shops / mechanics / friends and no one can figure out what the problem is... its a 97 s14 with a completely stock ka

so heres the problems:

1. when the car is rolling and i shift into neutral (either approaching a red light or going down a hill) it normally idle's at 1.5kish. but randomly the rpms will drop down to 200/300 and the engine stalls while im going down a hill at 45 mph...

the last mechanic i brought the car to noticed that the intake manifold gasket was cracked, he changed it and it helped with this problem but didnt solve it completely, this use to happen at almost every other light when i would shift to neutral. it only happens once or twice a day now.

2. when driving on the freeway while keeping a steady 65mph, randomly the car will feel like i took my foot off the gas (the rpms drop, and the speed starts to drop as well) and then a about 2 or 3 seconds later it picks back up and starts feeling normal again.

3. this last one happened just today, when i was driving home shifted in to 5th and all of a sudden the throttle got stuck open and kept accelerating. i put the car in to neutral and the rpms shot up to about 6.5k... after freaking out i tried to find somewhere to stop so i down shifted to 4th and the rpms instantly dropped back down to normal (about 2.5k) but it was still accelerating by its self slowly (it felt like the throttle was about 20-25% open) ended up driving it home like that. but a few hours later when i started the car up again the problem fixed itself... i drove it around for 30 mins perfectly fine, but when i pulled in to my driveway thinking all was fine the rpms kicked back up and started doing it all over again..

has anyone had problems similar and found out what was wrong?

First two are the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV)

last one is Throtle Position Sensor (TPS) is coming un-plugged or starting to foul.

I have a POS Honda that did this shit for months and the Honda dealer said it was normal.... yeah...

You have a shady Mechanic... if he replaced you TB gasket and now yout TB is getting stuck open or the TPS is failing... he did something to get you back, and it wasn't good work!!

Search the forum for these parts and how to replace them yourself... its not hard, you have a 240 so start learning.
