Since I have been selling some and getting asked quite a bit I thought I'd just throw this out there since this EMS is one of our favorites to use.

Through our professional racing experience, we've used just about every standalone out there, from AEM, Haltech, PowerFC, Motec, Pectel, Holley Dominator, ProEFI... we recommend AEM's Series 2 EMS's first for their value, capability (comes fully unlocked), reliability (used in the majority of our pro racing customers' cars), and great support (supported by almost all tuners).

Plus, they're an American company, and we love supporting domestic companies when we can!

Thank you sir.

Anything for a RB25 Neo?

AEM's versatile enough that we can make it work with any engine, but we need to make sure we can switch up the jumper pins inside the box. For other custom applications we've been able to make it work and it was no problem. We would need to make a custom engine harness since the ecu connector will be different.

question: is the aem ems 4 a full stand alone ecu like the V2? what are the differences between the 2 or is it just the V2 is for 6cyl and bigger and the ems-4 is for 4cyls...

also, do you know if either of these will work on a VVL head modified for an SR20det (I've heard they require a specific ecu and my power FC is not good enough).

Just to be clear, since this comes up a lot - there are additional differences besides the number of coil and injector drivers the ECU supports; the EMS4 is not simply a 4-cylinder version of the Series 2 EMS. For our purposes, however (running inline 4 automobile engines), the EMS4 can be thought of as a 4-cylinder Series 2 EMS that needs a special harness.

The EMS4 has the same software and very similar hardware, and supports every feature of the Series 2 EMS that we care about. Both the EMS4 and the Series 2 EMS will support VVL on a SR20.

question, i have an s15 sr20det and per aem, they don't have a box that will work due to the ignition system on the s15 sr. since the aem ems 4 would be hardwired in does that mean it will work or is that something i have to worry about and further research?

p.s.
sent you a lengthy pm on wiring work, haven't heard back :(

The S15 doesn't have a plug-and-play option, but we can make a S14 SR box work fairly easily using a S14 ECU connector, or the EMS4. I'd suggest the EMS4 as it'd be a much better value! I'll take a look through the "JordanInnovations" PM's and get back to you now.

I'm sure Jack can get you a PM shortly, but to answer your question, no the EMS itself does not come with the MAP or IAT sensors that people typically use to go speed density, since not everyone uses the same sensors.

The most common ones are the AEM 3.5bar MAP (reads up to 2.5bar boost, there's also a 5bar sensor, as well as all the GM 1bar/2bar/2.5bar/3bar MAP sensors) and the GM IAT (which is something like $25, super cheap).

I'm assuming you already have a wideband and could wire in the analog output from that to the AEM's WbO2 wire, then the only other thing you might want to look at is fuel pressure with a 0-100psi fuel pressure sensor.

Here's my situation, I bought a new harness from Wiring Specialties for the AEM EMS, not knowing the Series 2 is a plug and play unit. I'm mechanically savvy but wiring isn't my forte. I already have the AEM UEGO wideband and Truboost controller which I'll be installing. I just don't know what EMS I need to get (the Series 2 or the EMS4) along with the sensors I need to purchase to work with my harness. I spent a pretty penny on my harness and I would hate to have it not work. I'm just trying to find someone who can help me out with it.

No problem, I assume Wiring Specialties gave you a standard SR harness? We just have to match up which connector it is (S13, early S14, mid S14, late S14, S15) with the correct AEM Series 2 EMS and you'll be able to use it, assuming the wideband is wired into the engine harness (if not, it's just one wire).

It sounds like a headache, but it's very doable, and with the pricing that we're giving on EMS's, an easy choice at this point.

Since my last post I've been talking to a few SR gurus and I've figured out what all I need. The harness is a standard S13 harness, instead it's wired for the AIT and a MAP sensor instead of the MAF. I never received a PM about pricing, if I can get that it'd be great =)

Sorry to bring this from the dead, but i just recenlty sarted looking in to that and was wondering is it worth it to buy the v2 or just the aem ems4. I have an s14 sr20 swap that i just finished but no tune so i have to get one or the other, i also heard of rsenthalpy but dont know much about it. I also might be doing a rb swap in the future but nothing is set in stone. thnaks
