So im in the midst of an engine build that has been drawn out more than long enough. Last few items I need are a headgasket(getting and Apexi shortly) and a piston/rod combo. Im stumped on what brand I should trust and go with, so I am asking for all of your input.

My power goals are 400whp max, since im running a 2871r .64.

My dilema:

Eagle rods vs. Manley h-beam rods
Cp Pistons vs. Mahle PowerPak pistons

I am planning to get 87mm and 9.0:1

Let me know what you think would be a better combination

CP pistons, stock rods, 500 whp capable without any issue.

If you want rods, get Manley's.

Spool makes very affordable and highly rated rods... They are an Aussie company. My next build is spool rods with CP's.

Unless you're trying to ring out every bit of performance you can get, I would grab the eagle and CP. If you have future plans for a higher HP goal/more boost/efficiency/reliability, get the later. all depends on your' pockets.

I have Manley/cp. The manleys aren't that much more than eagles so it's a no brainer. I've heard plenty of bad things about eagle. Even if you don't hit a power level that you will need rods it's a good investment. Especially for peace of mind, and who knows maybe you'll want more power later

They don't have to be stress relieved to be good for 500whp. My bottomend made 491rwhp on stock internals...

I've been thinking about shotpeening/cryotreating a set and seeing how they work out. Obviously having ARP's installed as well.
