So while I was doing repairs on my 97' 240 w/ s14 sr I put a rubber glove over the throttle body to keep anything from going into the engine. What I didn't predict happening was the engine eating the glove. I went to start the engine to move the vehicle back into the garage and it was gone. I took off the intake and didn't see or feel it in the runners. The glove is one of those rubber gloves like the doctors use, but black.

I have a s15 turbo, maybe now is a good time to install it and look for signs of the glove.

Please put my mind to ease and tell me someone has done this or seen heard of it happening and everything was ok.

The glove made it all the way into the #2 cylinder. I sucked it out with a vaccum. Now I am hoping it didn't bend any valves.

This just made my day a little better.

Thanks.

Hope your motor is ok. Btw, did you get a picture of the glove?

I wouldn't worry about the glove hurting anything at all. That's damn funny. I can remember a very good friend of mine putting a tennis ball into his intercooler when it sat to help seal it off, and forgetting it. Needless to say the car ran like shit and would blow off pipes. I finally came over to do a boost pressure test and noticed an odd fluttering sound. Took off the pipes to find a nice Wilson tennis ball wedged in the pipe and stuck.

when we were changing my friends head gasket, we were buttoning everything up and he was attacking the half moon deal with gasket remover on a q tip, drops the qtip all the way down in the oil pan. ended up having to drop the pan to get it out.

Makes me feel better about my absent-minded blunders. Awesome you were able to remove it though. Your motor must a bareback model, hates the rubber. lol.

Today I forgot to clamp down my fuel return line. I watched a 3ft wave of fuel go everywhere.

Shit happens. We forget things. Maybe now we will double check things before starting the engine lol
