Alright guys.. so one morning about a month ago I was driving my vert (automatic) to work.. I came to a stop sign and when I went to give it gas, it died. It started back up no problem and I didn't think anything of it..a few weeks ago I was driving around town running errands and the car was just fine.. I came up to a red light like normal and again, when I went to give it gas, it died. It started back up and I kept going, a few lights later it happened one last time and never started back up. I towed it home, and replaced the fuel pump because it wasn't throwing any codes.. I figured it wasn't starting because the fuel pump went out. With the new fuel pump in it still wouldn't fkng start so I searched on here for similar issues and ended up replacing the fuel pump, the coil, cap and rotor, and also tried a different dizzy and new coil wire and still have NO spark at all. I pulled the #1 spark plug out and plugged it into the wire to try to get it to spark and it wouldn't even spark.. Any other ideas?!?!

bad ground somewhere?
did a quick google search and found this, don't know if it helps:
No spark? (http://www.nls.net/mp/volks/htm/spark.htm)
Engine Won't Start No Spark (http://www.aa1car.com/library/no_spark.htm)

Hrmm yeah we tried like everything. I did a little more research last night, I'm gonna try to borrow someones power transistor (If i can find one) see if that's the problem..

Best of luck. Maybe try swapping out the ECU? WHo knows with issues like this..

Check your fuses and relays.

bought a power transistor/ignitor chip.. didnt fix the problem. only thing left we can think of that would do it is the ecu. anyone local i could borrow or buy a ecu to test?

Before your car died and didn't start anymore, the symptoms sounded like mine. Try borrowing someones MAF? I changed a bunch of things too and all along it was the stupid maf causing my car to die.

mmm I haven't checked the MAF yet, but the problem is there's no spark :/ The coil is never getting any ground, it stays hot in both terminals at all times..why else would it do that besides the ignitor chip?

external coil right? Try replacing it with a coil from a junkyard.

Replaced the coil with a brand new one. I got another ecu and plugged it in, the car fired right up and idled perfect.. I got out and drove it up the street and about 1/4 mile up, it sputtered and died. I couldn't get it to start, and again it won't spark. I think it may be something in the wire harness Idk :(

Waaaaait a minute..... checked the ecu and pin 36 looks like it's toasted. I think that's for the ignition switch :/ Do you think if the ignition switch is bad it would short out the ecu? Or is there a wiring issue I should dig for?

Woww... soo I got in the engine bay and found the harness that goes along the head to the dizzy rubbed through and exposed some wires which shorted out the ecu. We soldered a fuseable link inside the ecu and taped up the exposed wires and everything works perfect now. Seems like this could be a very common problem, if someone else has to deal with this, hopefully this thread is somewhat helpful
Thanks!
