blown turbo??

I have a 91 hatch with an sr20det and I mightve blown my turbo I guess? I hit 6k rpm in 2nd and heard a pop then my boost has slowly gone down to like no psi(currently dont have boost guage so not exactly sure). Plus when I rev the engine my air intake whines. Did I blow my turbo or do I have like an intercooler leak? Please help! My car does run fine tho without the boost just really slow ":/

Sounds like You blew an intercooler pipe.

Does it while when you build any boost? If so then you probably blew the turbo or you have FOD in the turbo intake

If you blew your turbo there would be a lot of smoke to follow. Double check all your couplers and intercooler pipes. I agree with Sileighty 85 - blown intercooler pipe.

oh no, i blew the fuck out of it, i got my mechanic buddy who helped me with the swap to look at it. He decided to try to drive it and finished blowing it. It smokes like crazy now and is impossible to drive. Im putting on a new turbo though in literally like an hour :)

Blowing an intercooler pipe will scare the hell out of you. FYI

blowing a turbo is too cause for a split second you think you blew a hole in the side of your engine which is a horrifying thought. I got the replacement turbo for free though so its all good for me

did the swap today. put a t25(free) in place of my t28. Right now its running without an o2 sensor but im still happy cause I have boost again :)
