So i've had my sr now for a few weeks and its been running great until now. I was just cruising around 45mph in 5th gear when things started going wrong. I heard some backfiring (from the exhaust) then I smelled fuel and then it began sputtering and felt like a miss. I pulled over into a parking lot and I got out popped the hood and smelled more fuel. I tried to start it and nothing. Tried to start it again for 15 seconds and still nothing. I floored the gas while cranking it and after 10 seconds it started although it was running very rough and wanted to die so I kept it going long enough to get home. On the way home it was running very rough and there was a steady trail of white smoke behind me and it still smelled like gas. I got home and it died in the driveway and now i'm sitting here scratching my head as to what it could be..
Any help is appreciated. thanks.

ur shits getting flooded. check fpr, tps and cts
start with those. easiest fix,
also boost leak/vac leak can cause richness.
check maf signal as well. Ecu floods engine when maf is malfunctioning

Thanks, it has been running pretty rich and usually backfires when letting off the throttle. It also has had some issues with bogging but that usually went away after I turned it off then back on.

Any luck on your problem? My sr did the same exact thing to me last night!

This is usually an indicator that you need a tune up. Do one!

Not yet. I haven't gotten a chance to look at it. I'll let you know when I do.
White smoke out of the exhaust means you are probably burning coolant, which indicates a blown head gasket or turbo seal (probably the head gasket). Open your radiator cap and start you car, check for bubbles in your radiator.

My problem started after installing a new turbo elbow. I have a blacktop and my old elbow had the fatter o2 sensor. The new elbow had the smaller o2 sensor already in it so I left it alone. Guess I should swap that out!

compression test, you'll know if your gasket is blown, sounds like it, if you were running too rich the smoke would be black.
do a compression test is a good way to start.

I checked and there was no bubbles. Coolant was completely full and clear. I also never smelled any anitfreeze. Only thing I smelled was fuel.

Sounds like we have the same issue. My smoke wasnt white.. kinda gray.. It was hard to tell, it was dark outside. Mine doesnt have a blown HG, I know that much.

Check y'all fuel injectors the o-ring where the injectors seat on they give or crack and it floods the engine. I had the same issues

I noticed injector # 1 and 4 had some gas coming out from the seal on the intake manifold. I figured that had something to do with it as well. My oil smelled like gas also. Ill swap my plugs, change out the o2 sensor, replace those seals and change the oil, then see what happens.

So it was one of injectors getting stuck wide open. It was pouring out so much fuel that the fuel was vaporizing after being compressed instead of burning off which is the reason it was white. I'm getting a new injector tomorrow and it should fix the problem.

My #4 cylinder had a gas puddle on the piston. It evaperated shortly after I removed the spark plugs. I bought an injector o-ring kit, hopefully itll still run fine after I fix the problem.? Im sure the cylinder wall didnt like that too much.

Are you sure its your o-rings? My o-rings are fine, its my injector thats stuck open. You can tell by actually blowing on the end of them (as gay as that sounds haha). If you blow on the end of a good injector no air is allowed through but if you blow on the end of a bad one a small amount of air is let through and you can tell its bad.

Just hook up lines and unplug wiring. Have them where you can see them and turn key or have someone do it fir you and you see if it from o ring or injector
