S13 Alternator wiring short help

So i was installing my stereo into my new s13 and i forgot to disconnect the battery when i cut into the body harness. Well coincidently i ghetto rigged my alternator fuse by putting no fuse and just jumping it to itself using a 12v wire so when i cut into the body harness my alternator got a short somewhere in the wiring that hooks up to the plug in the fuse box 75a fuse. How can find the short? Can i just run new wires directly to the alternator to the fuse box?
