So im looking at getting a low km Ka24de out of a 95 s14, he says the car was in production in 1994 and heard that the early Ka's in s14s are obd1's is there a way to visually verify this? I have read it has something to do with the distributor but not really sure whats going on here. I want to swap this into my 1990 s13 and get started on a little turbo build. Help is very much appreciated! Thanks

the dizzy is different you will need dohc s13 dizzy and down pipe.
94 and early 95 is obd1. late 95 are obd2.

Is there a visual difference in the distributor?
If it is an obd1 s14 KA will that make my swap any easier? Or if it is an OBD2 can I use that ecu or do i still need an s13 ecu?

Distributor is the same on both Earlier and Later S14 KA. I wouldn't really care too much between the 2 and just focus mostly on the mileage and overall condition. This is mainly since your'e swapping it to an 89-90 S13 chassis anyways which will require you to still convert several things from SOHC to DOHC. The biggest reason is its simpler to run S13 DOHC parts than rigging S14 parts. Only thing you would really want is the longblock out of an S14.

To answer your questions however. The easiest way to spot the OBD1 and OBD2 S14 KA is on the Intake Manifold. OBD2 will have much more sensors on the intake manifold than OBD1.

And I will be needing to swap the intake manifold for one off of an s13 regardless right? The KA has 120,000kms on it with a good transmission. Do you happen to know if I can use the steering pump that comes on the s14 Ka? and what about ECU should I try to find an s13 one? Pretty new at this searching and reading and trying to learn as i go.

Get everything out of an DOHC S13 KA. Intake Manifold and sensors, ECU, HArness, MAF, Distributor. Since you SOHC chassis you'll also need DOHC power steering components, DOHC Tach and re-use SOHC Dash harness connector on the DOHC harness. Also S14 and S13 the same PS Pump and Alt.

wow I need pretty much everything, I wanted to do this for its cost effectiveness but it looks like the hassle and cost will be close to an SR swap. Do you have any info or recomendations on tuning? Thanks for your help!

You'll need the same things for SR anyways. For me KA parts are more readily available so you can get them for a decent price. IMO KA-T is still the best bang for buck deal if done right. However SR swap for you might be a straightforward install so might be less of hassle. Its all up to you since both are good options.
