so im putting cp pistons in my sr and notice the clearance between the piston and the oil squirter is veryy small. the stock sr pistons have a pretty good notch in the skirt for the squirters that the cp's dont. the pistons should expand and swell up as they heat up right? cause then they would seem like theyd hit it. im sure cp wouldnt manufacture them so they wouldnt work and obviously people use them. its just seems a little close, anyone had experience and can chime in on the clearance?

Plug up/Weld the oil squirters. You don't need them on forged pistons, and plugging them will boost your oil pressure up, which is never a really bad thing with SRs and how much they like oil.

Same thing with MAHLE pistons....They would actually contact the squirters as some early user found out. The fix was (what I did) to notch the coil squirter tabs allowing it to swing out a little further and clearing the skirt. The way you notch the tab does not allow it to rotate back the other way either...
Google like Sr20 mahle issues or something and there are alotta write ups on it.

I run CPs and my oil squirters are intact...No issues. Keep them.

Yea I'd rather not take them out, just for peace if mind and what not. I'll look into modifying them niscur. And Sean what sr do you have, an s14? Is there any difference in design with the squirters?

just for future reference for people wondering the same thing, i called cp and the tech guy i talked to said this was the first call hes gotten about it so that almost solves it right there. they said theyre skirts are shorter than the oem pistons, so they wont have a problem clearing even when they heat up and expand.
