after sr swap

i finally got to drive my s13 with a freshly swap sr blacktop....
few issues im having.....
ive replaced water pump, fuel pump, clutch, radiator and exhuast mani
when i first turn on the car the idle is pretty rough then after a few seconds if goes back to normal...is this normal??
i decided to removed the oem thermostat and run it like that to prevent any over heating problems but now my temp doesnt even go up at all... even after driving for 30 minutes on a 100 degrees texas weather...itd would read fine when i had my ka so idk whats the deal? i wanna try to see whats wrong w it before i go for the temp gauge...any suggestions?? thanks!

Stock temp gauge can many times be unreliable. Also, running NO thermostat it not good. The motor must reach operating temperatures before operating.

so i put the thermostat back on and even then still not goin up at all...
i think my temp gauge not working makes the car run richer than normal since it never reaches normal temp..correct me if im wrong....plus i feel like the car is wasting too much gasoline :/ idk if it has anything to do w this....
anyone???
