just getting suggestions and opinions here,im a noob on swaps so be patient please. I recently bought a 95 ka so I could have an extra head to swap the oil seals and get freshened up while I can still drive my 97 240 around. So my question is should I use the new head with the block that is currently in my car with 167k or use the block that came with the head. The guy at the machine shop told me the head had been run hot and was warped. That makes me question the condition of the block because im not sure what to look for. Will a block with 167k be alright for a turbo making 230-300 horsepower?

Short answer
No.

Long answer because i'm feeling charitable today. Ok well first there are a number of errors that lead to confusion in your post. You say you are going to swap oil seals, you are referring to valve stem seals? If you are saying you're going to take the seals out of the head and put them into a different head, don't do that. New seals only. The machine shop guy knows what he's talking about, the head will need to be decked, or made true, meaning it is completely flat; ideal for sealing. Now if by block you mean lower end (pistons/crank/bearings, etc.) 167k is a ton of miles. I wouldn't doubt it is a candidate for a rebuild (as we've learned from your mechanic friend it was run hot, that signals to "how else was it beaten on?") you might try boosting it with a t25 set-up to 230hp, but i sure as hell wouldn't try 300 on an engine with that many miles. I'd take the time to build the engine while you have one sitting around
To answer your question, yes you could use the head on the engine in your car, if it has been decked.
Could you boost it and it hold together? Yes.
Will is hold together? Most likely not.

Best thing for you to do, since you have a spare engine
