I have a KA that I just put back together.. just re-did the timing, got a new distributor, and tested the injectors.

Setup is:

Enthalpy tune
750 cc injectors
Z32 MAF
S13 head
S14 block
S14 distributor

At 30 psi I crank it and it starts to fire. It doesn't though, and when I try cranking again it sounds less and less willing to start.

I know that I have spark and there's 30 psi of fuel at the rail. I pull a plug out and it's covered in gas. I originally ordered a tune for 550cc injectors because that's what the previous owner told me it had. After looking at the engraving it clearly says SL4-750.. so I asked Enthalpy for a retune and he agreed it just hasn't shown up yet. So as of now my car is tuned for 550cc injectors, and has 750's.

So I tried bringing the fuel pressure down.. no luck. This was immediately after cranking so it could have been saturated with fuel already.

It seems like I'm getting too much fuel, but the car should at least start with that excess, right? Or is there something I'm overlooking?

well if your ecu is tuned for 550's and you have 750's your car wont start.

You cant reduce fuel just by adjusting the fuel pressure.

^it should start and run like shit though

OP, when do you have spark? Compression stroke or exhaust? Remember both will show up as TDC on the crank pulley.

i pulled the valve cover to re-do timing yesterday so I'm sure it's on #1 TDC compression

i've tried the distributor on a couple different teeth and advanced/retarded it while cranking.. same result

gas was sitting for a few months but there's maybe 2 gallons of the old stuff and 2 gallons of fresh 91 and ~2 oz of fuel system cleaner

No it should definitely start but run big rich and possibly die.

You aren't getting any pops at all? Spray some ether into the intake and see if you can get a pop/ attempted start.

Have you checked compression? Leak on injectors?

yes it pops and barely tries to start. i put some starter fluid in there and it fired up for a second or two and died. so that leaves me with fuel delivery..

there is pressure at the rail, so the pump, lines, filter, etc are good. that only leaves the injectors. they are used and were sitting off the car for a few months so im having them cleaned right now and we'll see what happens

You should have verified that the injectors were firing. it may have been a wiring issue. Either way your on the right track to resolving it.
