when i drive the car for a long time and then let it sit for around 30 minutes, it doesnt start. i can hear a click but it still doesnt crank. i have to keep trying to turn the key over and over and after 4 or 5 times it cranks over and starts up like nothing was wrong.

it always eventually starts.
it never really gets worse.
after shorts trips its fine.
if i start it right after i shut it off its fine.
i replaced the starter a year or two ago and it didnt fix the problem. it did it before and it still does it now.

any ideas?

I have seen this before.

Starter relay or ignition switch

Relay is located by the pass side fender try by the BAT. Its blue.

Easy fix is, Run a 12v power wire from the battery to a push button switch- and then from the switch to the starter signal its the tab on the starter (only 2 cables go to the starter a 12mm 12v thick wire and a tab with a 12 gauge? black and white)

This will bypass the starting system and allow you to turn your key to the on position and use the button to give the starter signal and crank over the motor.

its a Disney land fix, but it will work.
Your call.

You don't need to change the metal part of the ignition where your key goes.
Just the white plastic back end to it, held in by Philip screws.

Good luck
