Hey folks:
My S14 blacktop Sr20 needs a rebuilt.. i bearly have compression on the 4th cylinder (nearrest to the tranny) Instead of rebuiding it oem specs, i thought i would upgrade few things
I'm aming between 290-310 Whp.. I heard that oem rods were good till 500hp or soo.. true?
wondering if i could keep my oem pistons? how much power can they handle? if i can save that 4-600$ on pistons, i would greatly be happy :P
550cc injector
walbro fuel pump
Z32 MAF
Clevite Rod & Main Bearings
ARP rod/head studs
gasket kit
oem S14 water pump
oem S14 oil pump
missing anything? basicly my main question is.. can i keep oem pistons and only replace the rings? i dont wanna over do anything.. if i can save some $$ and invest somewhere else on the car, it would be appreciated!
thanks alot!

For what you want the oem pistons are fine that being said if its an engine build your best off spending the money on nice pistons stock rods are up to the job for sure maybe look into a nice metal headgasket just for peace of mind and other than that pick out whatever t28 series turbine you want the disco will be good for but most people always crave more power so the 2871r might be smarter in the long run and the Greddy t518z might be a lil bigger than what your looking for but even on low boost they are crazy fun my fav sr20 turbo but that's just my opinion and if your gonna splurge on anything it should be engine management. I know its lots of money but its Sooooo worth it and you can find great deals on used standalone management that makes the money spent worth it. That power level is easy to have especially in an s14 Sr so in the end it comes down to how reliable you want the setup to be and where you like a powerband.

I've found and old solution that my local machin shop has done on tons of engins, instead of having a coper headgasket that may leak on the corners! All u'll need is a coper wire and they'll grove the base half the thickness of the wire, u plate the wire in the groove and when u tork down the head it just crushes and helps the gasket keep the compression! Its an old V8 technic that has pass the test over the years

Your stock pistons are fine for those power levels as long as you get a good tune. A JWT or enthalpy setup is pretty much ideal for something like this.
The only other thing I would recommend is an Apex'i or Cosworth headgasket (make sure to machine both the block deck and the head. And get everything balanced.

because i've seen many ppl saying that oem s14 piston won't handle pass 300 Crank hp !? if they are needed i'll replace them since i have them in my hand, but in an other way, if i can save that extra 5-600$.. i would defenetly do it too!! has for the tune i have some dude that only tunes nissan here, i'll defenetly have the car fully tuned before riding it!
will an after market manifold be usefull? since oem one has unequal lenght runners?!

Nah, stick with OEM manifold. Just get it coated with Swaintech white lightning.
Your pistons are fine, but if you're really worried about them, replace them.

everything will be stock (internal) all new but stock, exepte for headgasket and bearings, how much psi will i need to push on my t28 to have my 300Whp?
and how much power can i output out of the stock engin without the use of forged bottom end?

Stock engine can handle over 400whp.
Your T28 is maxed at 300whp, 18-20psi probably, which is pushing it.
These are pretty basic questions man, the search button and google are your friends.

That depends on how reliable you want your car to be.
