92 240 hatch. ka24e. recently replaced the water pump and thermo cause it was overheating. running perfect now. come to find out there was no coolant and it is leaking from somewhere. i dont know where. could running no coolant eventually mess up the pump or anything else?

a leak at the bottom of the overflow tank would only cause there to be no coolant in the tank not the whole system.

you still need to find your leak.

what you talkin bout lol. i just said up top that the leak is on the bottom of the overflow tank. im either gonna jack a overflow from a junkyard or drill holes in a whiskey bottle and use that. problems solved

ok but if you have to keep pouring coolant into the radiator then the overflow tank is only a minor leak....that leak would not cause you to lose all your coolant.
Unless you are just saying that you didnt have any coolant because your overflow tank was empty. If thats the case then your car still had plenty of coolant.
Either way your scenarios arent adding up.

ok let me try this one more time. the coolant overflow tank has a minor leak in the bottom of it. causing almost all of it to fall out the bottom. so until i can find a extra coolant tank im going to pouring it every now and again into the radiator. whats so hard to understand lol

You are the one asking if you can run a car with no coolant and what to do about a leak...
What dont YOU understand?

^^^Thank you.
Maybe you should do some reading on cooling systems so you understand how they work.
JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO COOLANT IN YOUR OVERFLOW DOESNT MEAN YOU HAVE NO COOLANT. IT IS OVERFLOW more or less EXTRA. If you have no coolant in your car its not because your overflow has a crack. This isn't rocket science.
What dont you understand?

Im having a cooling problem with my single cam too. I have new pump thermo stat flushed rad and good heater core. I am losing coolant in about a months time to the point of overheating. Absolutely no leaks....EVER. Good compression and good leakdown. No smoke AT ALL. Where the hell is it all going?
