I need some help with my SR20det its an S13 SR in a hatch, i recently did an engine swap. The problem is that it boggs out between 4500-5000 rpm it cant rev up any more than that when its running no matter what gear im in. It seems like its getting fuel cuts or not enough air. I have searched and tried everyones options on this subject but nothing seems to take care of the problem. My engine is stock nothing upgraded besides fmic, an the exhaust. ive been having a problem since the engine swap was done, heres a list of what i have tried to resolve my problem.
i have tried two different engine harnesses
2 different sets of stock injectors
3 different sr20det mafs
i have check an recheck for boost leaks
i have tried two different walbro fuel pumps
ive change out my fuel filter for a 300zx one
i added a fuel presure regulator
ive change out and gapped my spark plugs
i have tried 2 different ECU's
ive change out my CAS twice
i have check my timing i tried advancing the time
I feel like im out of options guys let me know if i mist something ill keep working on it till then.

i feel like im about to embark down this road with you also. My car has similar problems with bogging. My car just cant see more than 15-20% throttle. I can get it to redline but as long as i dont give it more than that much throttle.

I had the same problems with mine, I had the fuel mapping redone and it took care of the problem.

Sounds like coil packs to me. I had a very similar issue.

My friends Sr was doing this and we noticed the previous owner had been messing around with the ECU, Some of the wires were loose and we tightened it down. problem solved, goodluck.

change spark plugs? check gap?
not really i had same problem changed my fuel pump add a fuel pressure regulater and nothing would change same problem went to give the car a street tune moved the distribuator turns out maf was not good swap it with a single cam s13 ka car runs like a champ no bog up to 7 gran rpm

I have this same issue, but mine will randomly happen, 75% of the time my SR runs like a champ, but sometimes it just wont go, only with 10-20% throttle and even that is pushing it, it hits boost but the RPM's will just stay at 3k, it feels like the car might be leaning out, even though it runs rich all the time :/
same thing happened with my buddys car. it turns out he had a big chunk of carbon build up in his intake(restricting air), cleaned it out and ran like a champ.

so your saying your motor feels like its bouncing off the rev limiter between 4.5-5k, or it just wont produce anymore power (be as specific as possible)?
I'd swap coils with a friend, or possibly your igniter with a friend also. What did you gap your plugs to?

you have too much down force from your air diffusers!

No the ignitor is a waste of time. If your car starts your ignitor is good.

have u tried using a mass air flow sensor from a stock s13 Yes i have tried 3 different SR maf an one single cam maf an it still does the same thing.

My friends Sr was doing this and we noticed the previous owner had been messing around with the ECU, Some of the wires were loose and we tightened it down. problem solved, goodluck. i have checked the wiring an also i took my original harness out an put another one off a perfectly good running SR but nothing changes.
change spark plugs? check gap?
I have change them out and i gapped them at .28
same thing happened with my buddys car. it turns out he had a big chunk of carbon build up in his intake(restricting air), cleaned it out and ran like a champ. This is something i have not checked but i will most likely work on it tomorow an check the intake to see if theres something building up in there.

I'd swap coils with a friend, or possibly your igniter with a friend also. What did you gap your plugs to? i have gapped my plugs at .28, i tried a different set of coils, its stops producing power an it doesnt seem to bounce it just seems like not enough gas or not enough air between that RPM to go further than that.
im open to any and all sugestions something is gotta be causing this what is it that i have missed.

You know stock gap is a 0.36 right? .28 is for guys who run colder plugs with high boost.

All you guys should check out your knock sensors.
Mine has had this problen and for the life of me i couldnt figure it out. I always assumed i was having fuel problems.
Stick a 1 megohm resistor in the efi harness plug for the knock sensor to check it out and if it helps you located the problem. Dont ride around with the resistor forever, just TEST!
