everytime i connect my bov to the vacume pipe coming out of my ca18det intake manifold the car immediately dies, if anyone has any input to why this may occur please let me know.

i just did this motor swap so im trying to work the kinks out ,

i am also having a rough idle.

my guess is...you're creating a vacuum leak! recirculate or adjust the bov properly.

S14 with a ca?

Pretty origonal,
Anyways im assuming your using a push style bov. Something like a ssqv would be more ideal.

Turbo xs is bad for this.

Yes it is indeed a push style BOV , the setup was in someones s13 so im assuming he had it all worked out he just had his wastegate set to a turbotimer and the bov connected to the vacume line on the intake , he had the BOV near the intake side of the intercooler i relocated it closer to the turbo do you think this had a affect on it?

Yes. I mean you should be able to mount a bov anywhere you want to but push style ones are subject to leaking if they are on the hotside of the intercooler.

You have more pressure on the hotside of the intercooler due the pressure drop after the intercooler. Your intake manifold will have a vacuum on it, and your intercooler piping will have slight pressure in it. If the vacuum and pressure is enough to overcome the spring in the bov it will leak. That is where a hks ssqv is superior to a push type. If your bov isnt adjustable you should (either get a new one) or see if you are able to shim the spring without effecting its travel enough to make it useless.
The turbo xs rfl for example can be shimmed with quarters. I havent looked back since I ditched that thing for the hks ssqv.

by the way, what bov do you have

i see , well ya this is the BOV he was running it is a BLITZ bov , how much do the ssqv run for? also , the kid i bought this motor from burned his ecu so i ended up ordering a new one, do you think maybe this ecu needs to be tuned

It could possibly need tuned depending on what all is done to it, but it couldnt hurt if you had a good tuner. Almost every engine can benefit from a good tune honestly but I dont think the tune is your problem with it dieing. Probably a faulty bov.

Search around for a hks blow off valve to see pricing on them, just steer clear of ebay for it, there are tons of fakes on there that look real and come in boxes that look real but they are not real and will probably work as good as your current one.
