ok so i have a redtop sr20det and im looking to get a better tune. i am currently running a crappy rom tune.
mods:
stock motor
t28
fmic
z32 maf
555cc injectors
and other basic bolt ons.
i am on a budget so i was thinking about picking up an Apexi SAFC2 and running that with the current ROM tune.
either that or save up enough for a power fc or aem ems.
any recommandations?

You pretty much have the ones listed that are accesible.
You could also check for a nistune ecu. Its the stock ecu with a new tunable chip/rom so you can tune it on the dyno or whatever. It'll hook up to a laptop.

Your setup is pretty common, I've ran that setup on a stock ecu/w safc and a romtune only.
get a retune or we can discuss you sending me your chips. I'll look at the tune and if need be burn you a known working tune for your setup.
There is no need for a safc with a properly working rom tune.

It all depends on your budget for 1 and how much power you looking to get.SAFC 2 or any kind of piggy back is good to a certain point..If you want to push the limit i would do a stand alone you can get a lot more out of it..(Haltec,NISTUNE,Vi-Pec,etc)

well my current ROM tune is S***. its the reason i blew my last motor. My last motor spun a rod and the 4th piston was slapping. And as far as my budget goes, getting the PFC or AEM EMS WITH a dyno tune would be a little too expensive. Im looking to make 300whp or more
