Hey everyone just a couple of days ago I recognized a little blue smoke coming out of my exhaust while backing into a parking spot while feathering/baraping the gas up and down (not a lot, not like a chemney, just a little but noticeable) the smoke goes away after blowing it out clearing the motor reving the motor up. It does this randomly at idle not everytime just does it when its warmer outside and if i have been driving my car threw out the day.The car doesnt seem to smoke on hard acceleration if it does im told its a little dust of black not blue ..hmmm?

So i decided to do a compression test and my results were 155,155,130,155.The number 3 cylinder seems to be a bit lower then the others..Is this a major issue? Does this mean time for a engine overhaul?Any help would be great

your 3rd cylinder is right on the acceptable limit of difference. That is probably where your problem lies. Take your valve cover off and check the torque on your head studs.

Piston rings or valve seals are failing on number 3. Head Studs are not mentioned here are they? So they must be OEM SR Head Bolts. Most likely not a head gasket or head bolt torque problem. OEM Head bolts are quite strong (tensile/sheer strength, not clamping force) from factory and 7lbs is no sweat for them.

FYI: A blown turbo oil seal may also cause blue smoke.

I would save up a little for a rebuild in the future.

I forgot to mention. My SR does have ARP headbolts and its weird that when i check my oil its always at the same spot when the engine is cold (in the morning before the car is even started)seems not be burning any oil- Knock on wood.

Before you do anything try poring a cap full or two of oil into the #3 spark plug hole then re-test. If the compression goes up then you know it's your rings or ring lands. If not, you're looking at issues in the head, bent valve or bad valve seals. Could be head studs if they were really loose but I doubt that's the issue. Check the head stud tq first before tearing into the head. A leakdown tester may be in your future...

this is the best advice... just rent one at a local auto parts store
