I just bought an s13 rolling chassis and payed someone to put in an SR in it. I am not going for big power and tried to do everything to make sure this build would be as reliable as possible.
The engine is in and idles just fine, but as soon as you give it some gas it starts to bog down around 4000 RMP, back fires a few times and dies. We have swapped out the ECU, MAF and injectors with no luck. There does not appear to be an intake leak, it is building boost (7psi) and it is not over heating at all. The fuel pump is a new Walbro and is working properly.
The wire harness was not cut on the engine side, it was done on the chassis side. Is there any risk in doing it this way?
When the engine was first put in, it did not have any oil pressure. After a little some trouble shooting we found that the oil pan was dented and the oil pick was being blocked. Would running the engine for a 10-15 secs at a time during the trouble shooting cause any serious damage? It was enough for one of the rocker arms to come off...
Here are the new parts on the engine:
New Headgasket and studs,
Oil Pump,
Oil Pickup Gasket,
Water Pump,
3" Turbo Elbow, Down pipe and straight midsection, It does not have a cat back yet. (Could the lack of back pressure be causing any problems?)
Z32 fuel filter,
FMIC w/ BOV,
Other than that it is a low mile stock engine...
I have been reading old posts but am yet to find someone that is having the exact same problem. PLEASE let me know if you guys have any input.
Thanks
