i have a problem that just came up and was wondering if any of you zilvians know whats wrong with my car.

everytime when i brake hard on my car my tail light fuse blows out rite away.

this only happens when i brake hard and at night. my tail lights and instrumental light goes out too.

another thing i have going on is sometimes i will have to give my car some gas to start it up. and when i do give it gas it starts rite up.

anyone know whats wrong?

Check the start pin on the ecu for power for the starting issue, if its not theres your problem. So you have to trace it down. For the lights, is the correct size fuse in there?

kool i will check that out. yes it is the correct fuse. i think its the 15amp just like the cover says.

i dont want to be carrying lots of fuses on me all the time.

buy a 10 pack at autozone or a 30 pack variety pack and keep them in your glove/center console

its a good idea to have fuses anyways

You probably have an exposed wire (brake/instrumentation circuit) that is grounding out while hard braking. You need to trace that wire and find where it's exposed and cover it up.

i do keep some fuses with me but not a pack since i have other things in my car.

Check the wiring from your deck. Cap off wires that you don't use. If that's not the problem, then trace your tail light harness for a short.

I second that the wire is shorting out try following the wires starting near the tail lights

i highly doubt its my tail light harness since i never touched it before but i will still check it out.

anything else you zilvians might think it could be?

Honestly you don't have to have touched your tail light harness, it if it rubbed enough, it will expose wires and possibility of grounding it. I had a hard time finding mine before on an evo converted galant until it was at night. I saw the arc from the radiator core support to my hood. The wiring harness was rubbing in between the support and the radiator and exposed the wire thus creating the arc to the hood. It was cool and scary at the same time lol.

Ya I've had completely stock 240s that had wiring problems all these cars are getting older and these wires are becoming stiffer and breaking off or rubbing through

had this same issue on my first 240... check for exposed or wires that burned together.

especially around the trunk/rear tail light area
