I finished up my 5 speed swap today on my S14. Everything went smooth except getting the auto. pilot bushing thing out was a PITA. Anyways, the car drives just fine except if the car is idling and I press the clutch pedal down I hear some noise and the RPMs fall to 2-300 and sometimes it will stall out. When I'm driving and press the clutch to shift gears all is well. I'm

Any ideas???

Check your release bearing.
Did you buy a new one and put it in or re-use an old one??

I dont want to insult you, but did you put the release bearing in backwards. The symptoms you list kinda sound like it.

None taken :hs: You know I was thinking the same thing. the TO bearing that I got didn't resemble the old one that I took out. The front and back face of it looked completely different. But I went with it anyways thinking that maybe it was a new design or something. Both faces of it were smooth and the one that I took out had a smooth face and the other side had a ring on it that you could spin (if that makes any since at all). Looks like I'll be popping off the tranny again! Thanks

The face that spins should go up against the pressure player fingers

Will an OEM TO bearing work with an aftermarket clutch? The new TO bearing I put on was a little bit bigger diameter than the old one that I took off the transmission. The clutch is just a stage 1 off EBAY.

I would try to get the same one that came with the clutch kit.

Maybe I can just turn the one that's in there around.
