Sputtering

when i bought the car i had to unhook the maf from the intake just to drive it home. half way home the maf started working right and i had to hook it up. i bought a replacement maf and put on it and now it sputters under heavy acceleration. any ideas? gotta a car show tomorrow and dont wanna roll up in a sputtering heap. its a 76 280z FI

could it be a loose distibutor cap i just notice that one of my clips are broken off. or would it be the maf i bought? i thought about the distributor, but wouldnt it have sputtered under heavy acceleration when the old maf started working right? i dunno i am confused.

have you checked the spark plugs?!

yeah changed them and plug wires
