ok so my ka just started giving me problems and im pretty sure its either a rod knock or a spun bearing and my plan was to go KA-T but now im thinking of instead of fixing this ka and then getting a turbo kit it might be cheaper to get a rb20 or sr20. So my question is what would the price be to drop in a rb20 ive been looking at getting one from zerolift and the price of a rb20 from them is 1300$ what other stuff am i going to need to get to make it just run im not looking for big hp im just looking to get it running without any problems. Also what would the price be for a sr dropped in and running, zerolift is selling them for 1750$ red top? Also my other question is what would you guys say is a better motor a sr20 or rb20 going to be drifting the car but funds are alittle low now that i just spent everything on suspension.

Don't even bother unless you have around 4k saved.

ur better of keeping ur ka and rebuild it.... or find another ka that running and slap that one....

Rebuild your KA and/or also go KA-T. That would be your cheapest route. Going SR or RB sound cheap from the beginning but to run them reliable will cost more. Please think of all necessary things to make them run reliably (pump, regulator, piping, intercooler, wiring job, etc.) It all adds up man.

Yeah, if you are looking to have it fall within a "budget," you should stick with the KA. Like everbody has said, to get one of those engines running strong, you need a lot of up-front funds. But, if you force me to choose between the two, I would go SR because of easier access to parts and support, plus I'm biased toward the RB25. This coming from an owner of a RB25 swapped S14.

I wanted to know if you could add a turbo to ka motor with stock internals i've heard of ppl making good horsepower

Yeah with a good enamel paint on top of the pistons the stock bottom end will hold about 750whp. Just throw on two gt35s and just pour gas into the cylinders (no need for injectors with this power) and call it a day.
OP stick with ka if your poor like me. I have an sr and it is such a sensative motor, without the funds it will leave you taking the shoelace express like me unless you have another dd lol. Just build the ka and have a ka-t for less than an sr swap
if you want to drift and stay drifting reliably with money left to spend on tires, buy another stock KA and call it a day.
