Ka24de (1991) in s13
170XXXmiles
Code-32 on the ECU... (screw the egr i dont care!)
Mods under the hood-
Rad/fan/hoses, CB power steering, exedy stage 1, defi water temp gauge, cone filter and...... a strut bar (which BETTER NOT BE MY PROBLEM)
So the other night i started up my car and it did not sound right.
It sounds like my motor is eating capitan crunch, not chewing the whole time, but on a regular frequency. This happens with and without load, and the frequency increases with an increase in RPM. The car still runs and pulls fine. I was a bit low on oil so i topped it off.
I keep an eye on my water temp via Defi gauge, and hit my fans whenever I get up to 180, occasionally ive hit 220 but its been a while sense that happened.
Im going to do a full oil change tomorrow and inspect for flakes of metal, I also will be investing in either a leak-down tester or a compression tester. If you were to buy one of these which would be the most useful, from what i have been told the leak down is more versatile because it can be used on engines which are not running.
Any speculations on what i may have wrong? From what i have researched it may be a fried piston/rings. But i have not expereinced a loss in power or gas mileage for that matter I drive about 70 miles a day and today is day three for these symptoms.
I also have a timing light but am not sure on the procedure for its use. Such as timing mode and what the notches mean. I still have more reading to do there.
