Has anyone had success using Kelford cams? Im most likely going to be doing JWT's but just wondering. Oh and also going to be doing BC valve springs and reatainers and rocker arm stoppers,and a 3 angle valve job,anything else anyone would recommend for the head,not trying to go to crazy. Im just gonna be making around 350whp on a stock bottom end using a turbo equivalent to a gt2871r and an Isis intake manifold(yes Isis). I know im posting a multiple question thread, just trying to kill two birds with one stone. Thanks.

I know it might now be in your budget but why not do the bottom end while your at it? My top end has bc valvesprings, retainers and what not with hks 254 intake cam and an greddy 264 exhaust. Im not ported or had any valve jobs done but that will come soon. As far as what cams you want im not an expert but I would go with the more reputable brand since it is a vital part. You also may want to look into to cam gears as well. Dont be ashamed of an isis manifold, I have actually had good experience with their parts, I have a topmount mani from them and it looks great. 350whp is a good amount of power, the bottom end will handle but only for so long and I hope you have a good tuner. What are you using for tuning?

I was thinking of doing an Rs Enthalpy tune but i might end up just getting an aem. Not doing the bottom end for now cause i have a big project car(s2000) im trying to finish that is sucking my wallet dry. so im kind of trying to keep this 240sx build simple and relatively cheap for now. thanks for posting.

JWT S3 cams will be perfect. No need for springs, or retainers with that. Perfect match for the T2 flange based turbos.

I WOULD NOT go with BC cams or retainers at all. If you insist on springs, go with JWT springs. (I always suggest matching cam and spring companies). Again, JWT S3's DO NOT require spring upgrade.

In terms of the ISIS manifold, just be sure to tap all of the threaded holes before installation. Their casting is poor, which results in some threads not being 100%. Other than that, just make sure the flange plane is straight, and you'll be good to go.

2871r will get you to 350 whp without worry around 15-16 psi.

Codyace have you ever thought of offering like an sr20det 101 class or an "Everything sr20det" online tutorial something? Just an idea. Thanks in advance and for all your advice in the past and for any future advice. So,down to business, at the 350whp level if i just do cams can i leave the rest of the head stock? should i do rocker arm stoppers? i hear the heads on these cars are weak, im not trying to do solid lifters and all that stuff if i can avoid it. Thats why i was thinking valve springs and retainers(it just seemed like the quick easy fix,coming from a honda guy like me..lol). And did i understand correctly that i should re tap all the threaded holes in the Isis manifold? iI think id rather go back to the stock intake manifold and sell the Isis for $100.00 bucks. haha Thanks.

Leave the head stock (valves, springs, retainers) just add cams and a IM and you will be fine (as mine is stock and i run the "codyace" setup)

RAS are a great idea and dont hurt the wallet

retap the threads that you would be using for vaccumm and boost sources, basically just go over ever thread on the manifold (im not sure if you would make the same power with a stock IM, just keep the ISIS manifold

as far as spring and retainers go i would shoot for super tech. There is nothing wrong with BC cams. I have seen quite a few SR guys run them in there setups and they put out some really nice power, im talking like a 100 + whp gain and that was befor the tune was even touched.

While true, they will make more powe (hell any cam in an SR will make more power), the problem is a quaility cam will provide BETTER power, nicer curves, and be worthwhile.

To me it's not worth the risk, the time, or the effort to put BC junk in my valvetrain, when there are quality offerings available, for equal cost.

Haha, I wish I knew enough to offer a class like that...I'll be the first to say I'm not 100% know everything, and there are others who sometimes have other ways to do things. When it comes to cam related stuff I am pasionate though...

The stock valvetrain isn't optimal, but it works so long as you don't over rev it, mis shifts, or try to spin it to the moon. Stock valvetrain related thins on a JWT cam will be MORE than fine, as JWT actually designs their S series cams around the stock valvetrain. In fact you can spin them 7850 on their ECU's without worry (FWD and RWD guys have been doing this forever).

There aren't that many holes on the ISIS, maybe 5-6 that need to (all NPT for vacuum)...they are just really edgy, so retapping them is for sake of mind and to make sure they don't strip/rip.
