To start, the sr has good compression. The wiring is ace.

Last night i decided to take the car around the block to see how it ran.
At first everything was decent, not really what i would call 100%.

After about 30 seconds the car straight up died. Power steering and everything. Just shut off, but then i pressed the gas and it starts back up, wierd I thought.

Then smoke started, big black cloud when i accelerated, not hard though.

Idle is very erratic, smells extremely rich. Car kept shutting off and eveytime i pressed the gas it would cut back on by itself.

I didnt have time to really check everything out afterwards, but after i pulled it back in my driveway i let it idle, the smoke is alternating light grey and black. Idle is unaceptable.

The problems seem so random i dont know where to start. I dont have a wideband, so i cant really say if my fuel is off. But i do have a 255 with stock fpr and stock injectors.

Tonight im going to try to unplug the mafs and replace the it with a spare i have after i clean it if it makes a difference.

Going to get new plugs and gap to spec.

Id like to test injectors, ill do some reading to figure out how.

Would it be beneficial to pick up a nismo fpr? I dont exactly have the free cash, but if it will help fix it, id get one.

Any other suggestions? I want this thing on the road and im seriously considering sellig the sr to someone with more troubleshooting ability and going back kade, the sr has been a nightmare. Even my ca18 swap wasnt this annoying.

Dont give up yet, im going through the same thing. Check all your vaccuum lines and check the the timing. Look at the plugs too and see what those look like. Have you tried to boost yet?

I cant check timing until I get this one stud off my valve cover, it spins and spins but wont come off.

I had a shop double check my vaccum lines and other things after i did the swap, theyre good so i dnt think its the problem, everything looks good too.

I should aslo mention that i put in some octane booster, not much, but there was some old gas in the tank.

Im seriously thinking im having some kind of fuel problem, and i can tell the timing is off, jut cant gt the vc off.

to me it sounds like a boost leak

I very well may have a boost leak, but the smoke is coming out at idle and the idle is bad
So im confident thats not where the problem is.

The engine smoked for a bit when i first cranked it up. It stopped after letting it run for about 10 minutes, i drove it a mile or so.
Just around my apartment complex. Has not seen over 15-20 mph. Barely making boost

Pulled back into my garage to tie up some loose ends. put the octane boost and more fuel in.
Next time i try to drive it this is what i got.

Im at home now trying to get the damn nut off my vc, and of course its the one riht along the firewall on passenger side, aka the hardest one to get to. Fml

Check your timing and maf. Sounds like a Maf problem that's how my car ran when my Maf used to fall out. Also make sure your timing is right.
