question about loud knocking in engine

hey my ka24de has a bad rattle at the front of the engine.so i was going to take the valve cover off but my friend said i have to replace the timing belt?
any ideas thanks

your friend is a retard, KA's use timing chains.

Removing the VC will not mean you chave to replace the timing chain.

Its probably the upper timing chain guide, it needs to be removed

^^do that also take a flashlight and check your lower chain guides to make sure there still good. but definatly take the upper guides on the head off.

yup nissan discontinued them for a reason
