View Full Version : SR20det bad idle and breaking up

I was driving my 240 with a blcktop sr swap today. I decided to slide my car and ended up red lining it. Now my car has a crappy idle and it breaks up bad after 3000 rpm's. Also bake fires if i try and rev it in neutral.

I checked the compression and its at 150 in cylnder 1,2,4 and 145 in 3. So i know thats good i also thought i might have broken a rocker but when i tok my valve cover off they are all fine aswell. I do hear a ticking noise comming from the intake side.

Can some one please help me asap. :bash:

Id check to make sure all the shims are still on top of the retainers

i am new to nissans where are they and what do they look like? I also forgot to say that now my afr is at 10 on my aem gauge.

they sit under the rocker arms they are little round "spacers"

And also check IC pipes and vac lines for leaks

Sounds to me like boost leak.

A BIG one.

I bet a coupler is barely hanging on, if at all.

No boost leak. When I go to turn it on and I don't hear my fuel pump at all. Then to start it now I have to give it gas. I never had to do that before. When it finally starts it runs super rich. My afr reading on my aem wide band is 10. I can also hear my intake sucking in alot of air. Don't think I ever noticed that before.

Try unplugging the injectors one at a time see what happens. Maybe one is stuck or leaking.

hahahaha its wierd i thought the same thing and it maker no differance not even pulling the coil packs did something. I am so stumpded.

i just tried unplugging the injectors and then the coil packs. There was a dif in idle.I followed the steps tp read the ecu cel codes and my led just stays lit and never blinks.

thank you everyone for the help. I found out the problem. When i did my rhd conversion the old blower motor out side air vent wasnt sealed all the way. It had a pin hole where water dripped in the car and water dripped onto my the plug for the ecu. I removed the ecu and resealed the hole. Dried the ecu and the plug. Everything works fine now.
