I've been noticing (through routine inspection), that my RB20 has a slight oil leak. I suspect it is coming from the pan, and or the crank oil seal. I wipe my finger right behind the crank pulley and i get a thin film of oil after i drive it sometimes.
If i must replace the oil seal & the oil pump gasket, how could i do so without screwing up the timing?
What would be the easiest way to drop the pan also?

I don't have an rb but it sounds like all you need to do is pull off the crank pulley and pop in a new seal. Not too hard and doesnt affect the timing

x2.
Front main seal is always one of the first oil leaks on nissan engines for some reason.

Yeah. I took it to Marco at the SR20 shop. He says it aint that bad for an older motor. He'll do it for $200, only because the crank sprocket requires a special tool to remove it to get the the seal behind it.

hmmmm, I don't own an rb either but I have done this on both my ka and sr in my garage with no problems. I doubt you will need anything more special than a basic puller.

That's probably what he meant. Id rather just do it myself and use his shop for the job. I just don't want any leaks.

Regular pullers don't work for the crank sprocket because it's in such a tight spot from the oil pump. $200 is really steep for a $5 part, but if you're worried about timing issues it would be best to leave to the pros. Good luck with the fix.

Yes it will, Its not like an SR or KA that has the timing chain behind the oil pump.

Align all the timing marks before you pull the belt off.
You shouldnt need a special puller hit it with some PB blaster, let it soak and you can probably pry it with a screwdriver if you dont have a puller and if its not too rusted

hmm..
@ Pandapants, his pricing is steep maybe because he is a one man crew.
But I bought the part already. All i need is the time. I've pulled the belt before and the crank pulley, just never got to the oil pump.
@ Sileighty_85, i got the same advice from Marco about the timing. Doesnt sound so hard. I have PB Blaster. The sprocket isnt rusted so I'm hoping it isn't hard to remove.
Thanks for the advice folks!

Oh by the way Sileighty_85, were is the alignment mark for the crank sprocket?

there is a DOT on the Face of the Sprocket and a notch on the lower Oil pump Lip (should be on the right side)
If you look in the RB FSM it will show you how to set it up
