View Full Version : t25 Wastegate Modification 1-2 PSI

Here is the deal, it's cooling down in cali, and I have a fairly stock sr20det with basic supporting mods(Walbro 255, FMIC, Intake/exhaust).

The thing is, this is my daily driver, so I don't need to boost 12+ psi like everyone tries to on the stock t25. I just want it to be a little quicker, while remaining reliable.

I'm basically looking to get at max, another 1-2 PSI, maybe hit 10 psi at most, which I can't see myself spending 300 dollars on a boost controller.

I heard about, while reading here, that someone had done something to the wastegate, or added a washer, which gave them a solid, reliable 1-2 psi more, with no overboosting.

Does anyone have any more information on this, or the proper method of doing this?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I would ask you don't bother posting 'Get a boost controller', because I don't need one right now.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you just need to stack washers under the bracket that bolts to the housing which will add more pressure to the WG

Sounds like you need a topmount gt35r.

Thanks for upping your postcount.

Sileighty: So basically, this is what I should be putting washers under: http://i917.photobucket.com/albums/ad11/KaminaSan/wastegatemod.jpg

What about putting them under here? http://i917.photobucket.com/albums/ad11/KaminaSan/ATP-WGT-011B_450.jpg

Anyone have any ideas, or would anyone whose done this like to chime in?

that will work too, I couldnt remember if the T25 actuator separated from the bracket

I'm not positive if it does or not, I will definitely check and write back. If it does, I'll try washers on the actuator itself, and write back the effects.

Didn't raise boost for me, just keeps the wastegate open longer than it should when boost should drop off around 7000rpm.

Add washers depending on size. A 2mm washer can give you up to 3psi more.
you place them between the compressor housing and the wastegate. Cheap, reliable, easy.

I'm confused, and may be overthinking this... what picture is correct then? Or are none of them correct?

Could you circle, or highlight the correct method?

the screws you circled remove them and place washers under the bracket

how reliable is this mod? and is there any disadvantages to doing this mod.

Just bend the bracket that the wastegate attaches too. Then you'll probably need a bar or a long screwdriver to attach the actuator arm onto the flapper. You may see a boost increase, but the bigger goal is to keep boost up in the higher rpm.

what do you mean by a bar or long screwdriver codyace?

also, whats another way besides a boost controller to boost in earlier rpms.

When you disconnect the arm, and bedn the bracket, it will not reach.

So in order to make it reach, you'll need a prybar to get it to preload onto the flapper.

If you need a t25 or t28 to spool earlier, you need a v8 car.

I tried that, with 5mm washer I can only get 8psi. I think something is wrong with my turbo. I am getting garrett gt2871r now. Stock t25 wastegate is spotweld to bracket. Aftermarket t25 wastegate and bracket don't work too well with nissan sr20det t25.
