Ok so yesterday at drift nirvana, my car started experiencing this problem where the car starts cutting off around 2500 rpm and bounces up and down around 2500rpm like its got 2-step! So far, many unofficial mechanics at drift nirvana came to the conclusion that the maf sensor signal wire is either short or has a bad connection. The power and ground wires to the maf are good from what we tested however, either tonight or tomorrow I'm going to check the wires with a volt meter. If anyone else has experienced this on any engine, please lmk and or post your response or advice. Thanks. P.s. I'm trying to get this thing running right for drift water!

Ya cut off after 2.5k usually a maf problem, weither it be a dirty maf, broken maf, or the wiring to the maf. Common probem I've been seeing lately is the ground for the maf. So check everything out, if you have a friend with the same maf on a known running car then you can always try their maf to see if it helps your car.

yeah I'm pretty convinced it is the signal wire. 1. Put another exact same maf with pigtail on it and it ran perfectly fine for like 5 runs then had this problem again. Unscrewed the ground and relocated it. Ground seems to be fine which leaves me with a signal wire issue, whether it is short, or something else. I'm probably also going to relocate the ground again though to confirm that the ground isn't the issue.

After taking out and inspecting the engine harness thouroghly, I found that the maf signal wire was only being held together by 2 strands of the wire due to age and wear and tear. This was the only broken wire. Reconnected it and put the engine harness back in the car. Started it and it was experiencing the same problem. We then decided to try another sr ecu and the car was running like a champ!! Recap: I think what happened was the maf signal wire was shorting and kept shorting which cause a short in the ecu repeatedly, crashing it. With the engine harness also possibly be being bad still, I don't want to risk breaking another ecu, therefore I'm going to get a new engine harness as well.

I fixed my friends car after he smoke checked 2 ECUs on his Sr20 due to a short in his MAF wiring ,I traced short all the way back to his ECU. Check the plug @ the ECU ,I bet there are some melted pins in there making contact with each other, do a continuity test ,and if you pop open the burned ECUs you will find burned terminal pins corresponding to the bad melted pins on the ecu plug. Hope you dont have to buy another harness..check pins 16 and 17

appreciate it. Already bought a new ecu and new engine harness (only 250 for both so not too bad) I'm going to rewire the new harness and eventually install it just to clarify any other pproblems as well. Anyways, here's the pic I took of my problem!!!
