View Full Version : First SR20 Swap Issues

The install went smooth, everything was going fine, until we got to the wiring harness. The people we bought it from said it was already wired to fit, however, this was not the case. I had to swap the 2 plugs from the KA to the SR harness that sit next to the battery tray, and I had to extend the 02 sensor...the MAF was already extended. (I followed the FRSport guide)

Here are the problems we are having(all wiring):

1. VERY weak spark (we tested power to everything..injectors work, coils are all good, coil pack harness is grounded to chassis, etc.)

Could it be the igniter?

2. The TPS plug on our harness is a 6 plug, while the TPS itself is a 3 plug. Is this because the harness we have was for an auto SR? And how do we convert it to 3 plug?

3. The MAF plug looks like a DOHC KA24DE connector, but the maf we have uses the 3-plug type like a SOHC KA.

4. The ECU is an "Impul performance unit" and the light is red on it, and blinks when you crank the car over, is this normal?

All in all, it wont start. It does have fuel. I'm thinking it is very possibly the igniter that is causing the weak spark (like so weak you can barely see it)

Sorry for such a long post but I try to be as informative as possible.

check all grounds not just coilpack grounds, Post pics of the plugs you are asking about, why would he have a ka maf plug on an sr?, red lights are codes?, ignitor is a good place to start.

this diy helped a bit for me with the wiring issues. check it out. you should notice the MAF plug with 4 pins really only has 3 and one is empty. The sohc MAF wires up and uses the same three wires that are on the harness. You just loose the empty pin.

Good luck getting everything going.

it could be the coil's the ignitor or the CAS, check all the plugs going to these volt test at the ignitor, at the coils, at the ecu on the ignition pins and at the CAS.
Somewhere your loseing power. if its sparking each time its supposed to then your in better shape. check all grounds ect.
my bet is ignitor.

the soch ka maf will work on the sr so chances are thats the one you have and the maf plug should be the same
maybe its wired for a z32 maf?
not sure.
maybe my random ranting will spark a idea idk lol
