Doing a RB25 swap in a S14 this winter and in my research ive found the series 1 and 2 RB25's just today i came across a Neo RB25? Does anyone have any info on this motor? The only difference i could see was the valve cover, but it came out of a R32 so is it a series 1 or 2? or is it something else? anything will help.

I thought the NEO RB25s came out of the R34 (non GTR).

They're not a bad motor, but a lot of parts are not compatible with the regular RB25s.

Solid lifters rather than hydraulic, revised camshafts and a revised inlet manifold. The combustion chamber of the head is smaller, so GT-R spec connecting rods are used to compensate. The turbo received the larger OP6 turbine. Nissan RB engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_RB_engine)

The RB25det NEO 6 came from the HR34(coupe) and the ER34(sedan). It has like 280 hp rather than the 250 with the S1 and S2 RB25dets. The only Rb25 that came from a R32 was the RB25DE(N/A)

^^ This. On the dyno your going to see at least a 25HP difference between the S1 and the Neo. The NEO is going to be between 240-250 @ the wheels. Only semi down side of the NEO is the parts are not interchangable, finding things like a PFC, Intake mani start to get time consuming and expensive. Depending on what your plans and bank are the S1 or S2 might be your best bet.
