He/she needs to add ATF and perform the bleeding procedure. There is air trapped somewhere. Or the pump is just dying.

Air pocket, low fluid, incorrect fluid, or a combo of those.

take the cap off the reservoir.
start the car.
turn the wheel from full lock left to full lock right repeatedly.
add fluid as needed.
continue until steering is no longer heavy/noise goes away.
NOTE: at full luck, if you are pulling on the steering wheel, you will hear the pump whine a little bit. this is normal. as soon as you let go of the wheel and it slightly returns the noise should go away.

Just a note when you're doing this, don't hold the car at full lock for very long it puts a huge strain on the PS pump.

Is my pump bad? It whined loudly when I make right turns after driving for at least 5 minutes. If its not moving it does.make any sound but its always hard to turn. When I turn left I hear only what I can describe as a stretching sound.

do you have any leak and loss of ATF?
if you have the oem high pressure ps line, those tend to break cause they are shit, and would cause u to lose ATF. Get a steel braided line asap. Its well worth the investment. Cause if you just get a replacement oem one, its probably gonna break on you again later on.
Your pump could also be going bad.
So just examine your ps system. If no leaks and everything looks functioning, its most likely just the fluid level being low. Fill her up with ATF (not ps fluid) and then bleed the system and then your good to go :)
