I drove to work today about 40 miles no problem. I go to drive the car after and i get up to 5th gear and i put it in gear and 5-10 seonds later spits it out. I try to put it in again and it dosnt feel like i have a positive engagement with the gears and sure enough out it comes. Now it will stay in gear no problem. Right now the issue is only in 5th. Is this syncros or somehting else. Also how hard is it to rebuild the KA trans? Thanks

Ka trans arent that much money. Just find another one and don't waste your time with rebuilding that one.

Yeah but it was always an oppertunity to learn something new. That and another used trans will probably give out at some point again. I am trying to put down 350 at the wheels daily right now so having something that is new would be a lot nicer than used/working for my piece of mind.

chances are your gonna spend a lot of money rebuilding this trans. probably about 800 dollars. plus you need some special tools. its not worth it.

If you wanna learn something new then buy another trans throw it in to the car and take the broken trans apart/put it back together. Lesson learned and now your cars fixed.

^^ Useless posts, To the OP it sounds like your shift linkage is bad.
