This is on a ka24det. im using the stock fuel rail with sr injectors.

for some reason, the fuel rail is sitting about 1/16th of an inch too high. the injectors dont slide in very nicely and they are constantly ripping the small oring at the bottom of the injector because it is pinching it when i slide it in. why wont it line up? am i missing something dumb here?

thanks for any help.

Are you lubing the o-rings? should take care of the ripping.
The rail is sitting high, after being mounted with the plastic spacers?
try mounting the rail without injectors in it, and lube up the injectors.

I might be missing what your saying the problem is, but i tried.

yeah with white lithium grease. they are still ripping because they are getting pinched so hard when i press them in. they dont rip right away, but i think the pressure rips them after a few days of driving.

what plastic spacers? do you mean the thick rubber o-ring the rail slides into? i replaced all them them, thinking that was the issue, but its not. the rail squishes the top of the oring and is still misaligned.

Those would be the insulators.
It's been so long since i had a KA, but under the rail bolts are plastic spacer washers. They're on the SR, that I do know.

Sounds like the spacers are missing.

Plastic, they sit between the manifold and rail, where the bolts secure the rail. Without them the rail is held too tight against the manifold.

that makes sense! then the rail will pull in at a bad angle and wont line up right.

what size are the spacers? can i make my own? or do i need to go to the dealer?

im gonna try to use washers. if someone could be very helpful and look at the size of the plastic spacers, that would be great.

washers did not work. they just kept the fuel rail from pressing in far enough. and it still didnt line up. it just was farther away when it misaligned.

the fuel rail is fine until right before i make the bolt tight. as soon as i start cranking the bolt tight the fuel rail turns and becomes unaligned.

i guess im calling the dealership monday.

can anyone take a picture of what these plastic spacers look like?

is there one on all three of the bolts that hold the fuel rail or only the top two?

Make sure you slowly tighten down the rail. Tighten one side a few turns and then the other side. If you do one side all the way first and then the other side it won't sit right.

Use vasoline when you put the injectors in.
I had to dremel part of the fuel rail screw bracket to get it back on properly. Not sure why.
