Anyone ever done this? My main concern is that the 1mm difference from the block and front cover. I'm thinking that without decking the head with the front cover on there wont be a good seal on the front of the motor...any thoughts?

It's been done and some without problems
but MHG to really effective need a good decking
I don't know about where you are
but here in Socal it isn't that expensive to get that done
and anytime we done it we send both the head and front cover together

and, damn you for posting those Regas for sale

i've heard too many stories about people using metal head gaskets and having them leak. it has to be the reason because they most likley cheaped out and didnt get both head and block re surfaced.

dont cut corners , do the re surfacing, its worth it

I've done it without doing anything to the head. MJR is pretty adamant about milling down the oil pump cover since it's almost always mismatched with the deck. But we're also talking about a guy who builds 600hp SRs so he's a lil over the top.

Yea, I've been looking for the copper spray but here in Okinawa, shits hard to find. Maybe i'll try and get some shipped here. Also I heard people use spray paint instead of the copper spray. Anyone try that?

Not too many places here you can get the head/block decked for cheap...Shit I think many people have to send their stuff to mainland...Naprec to be exact. and thats EXPENSIVE.

No, there are shops on island that does it...Speed Factory got some shops that they use for their regular builds. Only the high HP, baller builds that they do gets shipped to Naprec.

I have been running around 380 whp or so for about a year now....

I pulled the head off and rebuilt it, and had the HEAD only milled down about 0.004".

The deck was not touched....but I did spend about 6 hours cleaning the shit out of it with scotch bright pads and carb-cleaner....

Using an Apex'i 1.1 mm HG and have had good success so far with ARP head studs.

i've had 2 SR's replaced with metal headgaskets. only kept 1 long enough to see the end result, but it did after 2 years and 12lbs of boost leak coolant. new setup has been decked =)
