<<< I KNOW ITS LONG...BUT PLEASE READ AND GIVE VALUABLE INPUT>>>

Completely stock Ka24de that was freshened up maybe 100 miles ago..???
It got all new gaskets everywhere with the oil pump, water pump, and timing chain replaced. The head got new valve seals and gasket as well.. And the intake manifold got (simplified) according to the 240sxtech thread. Minus maybe one or two things that the article did and i elected not to. Moral of the story is... Everything was fine when the motor went back in. I drove it a little bit on short short trips (maybe 2 or 3 miles at a time) and never noticed any problems other than the heater suddenly wouldnt work...I assumed it needed bled and proceeded to do so multiple times. But it never did work right and i periodically needed to add water every couple weeks when i would check it. The car was then parked for 2-3 months while it got bodywork and fresh paint...Now i put it back on the ground to start it today, and it starts fine but smokes terribley! My father checks the oil cap and there is water on it.. Same with the dipstick. I dont know what to do or where its coming from??? Please help me rule out possible suspects?

usually if theres water in the oil thats the sound of a blown head gasket...if this gasket is new by what you said it may have been installed incorrectly...a compression test may show the issue....

There is another way,

If the lower timing chain guide breaks the chain can wear through the water pump passage and allow for water to leak into the crankcase.

It happend to me

or worst of all
cracked head or block

i have my engine out at this moment because i had water in my oil too =(
i havent taken the head or block to get pressured check for any water leaks yet but i should be doing that today

did you use the same head bolts??? ka's weakest points are its head gasket and headbolts (got this from the nissan issue of super street)

headbolts tend to stretch out after a while.

good luck bro.

^^^^^^^

Definitely possible as seen above. Happened to me a couple of time in my L28 and L30.

I'm aware of this issue but that would be because you're showing a KA24E. I believe the OP specified its DOHC "KA24DE". Not saying its not possible but most likely issue will be somewhere else.

i think its the headgasket. Wasthe engine measured for any sort of warpage? Was there proper crack detection? the smallest inprint on a head surface can cause a headgasket to go bad.

do a compression test since 9 times out of 10 it's the headgasket.

also i've seen a kade with the lower cover installed improperly (not allign'd) causing coolant leaking into the motor.... 9 times out of 10 it's probably not this
