I'm in the process of doing a basic gasket/seal overhaul on my ka24de. I'm using the head off an s14 ka and the block of an s13. Looking at the 2 blocks I have, the s14 has smooth concave pistons and the s13 has, what looks like, slots for the exhaust valves. But they don't look right. None of them are the same size and they're very small.
I guess my question is, did s13 ka's have them stock? I searched around but the only internet I have is my phone that doesn't pull up all of the pictures I find.
Also, if the case is that the valves contacted the pistons, is it okay to put the motor back together and drive it daily? The head that came off has no bent valves as far as I can see and the engine compressed at 185-195 on all four chambers before I decided to even pull it apart. And it ran on its own then. Just leaked oil and sat for over 2 years so I figured replacing the gaskets would be the easiest way to get the motor to a reliable state.
Thanks in advance. I'm gonna keep searching around for more info. I can snag a photo later if anyone needs it.
