need help guys, cylinder 3 on my 93' ka24de is dead. checked my spark plug wire and its got spark, checked my injector and i hear it clicking and pulled the plugs and none of them were burnt or had oil or fuel on them but i swapped them out in case the plug on #3 was faulty. gonna compression check it in a few days to see if i have a bad ring but wouldn't there be oil on the plug or at least some smoke from the exhaust? any suggestions on other things to check? if a injector is clicking normally can it still be bad?

hook up a multi meter to the injector and check the resistance. if its not around ~11 ohms (IIRC) its bad. injectors go bad all the time, and the 'clicking' method doesnt always work

ugh......ok i checked the resistance on injector #3 and didnt get a reading at all so i checked the rest of the injectors and they were between 11-11.5 ohms, i swapped out #3 with another injector i had which tested good. also this injector i had was from a s14 ka i looked online and their was a couple threads saying they were interchangeable but does anybody know for sure if they are? after installing injector i started it and same thing cylinder #3 is dead...... any other ideas out there?

no more ideas?
Yes, all the KA24DE series injectors are interchangeable, just make sure its a DE engine not the single cam model.

im actually have the same issue!! i have researched a bit and foudn that if you have good spark and good compression then it could also be the ecu or wiring harness. i just ordered new injectors, they got here like 5min ago so i hope it will be good after that but if not ill be checking back on here lol.
Also any one have a good resource for operating the multimeter?? the instruction on the thing where total shit. havent really looked too much. And if someone could go into better detail about testing the harness or ecu that would be awesome! (found a guide but im a little noob to understand it 100%)

ok thought i solved the problem, but now i got a new one.:-/ i swapped out the old injector with one that had that was for a s14 ka, didnt work. so for fun retested the old injector that went out in the first place out of the blue it tests at 11.5 ohms. reinstall it car runs great idles perfect. i take out the injector and order all new ones, now last friday i have to move the car for the street sweeper i put in the old injector and the car wont even turn over i pull the spark plugs and their soaked in fuel and the cylinder is filled too. my new injectors came in sat, installed them yesterday and still same problem too much fuel in the cylinder or spark is weak or not there but i checked the spark by placing a screwdriver in the plug wire and placing it by a ground and there was spark. rotor and cap are still new, plug wires have less than 10k and i swapped the plugs 2 days ago. any ideas? cause im lost now. :rant2:

well i figured out what the problem is, my motor is flooded with fuel i pulled the dip stick and it reeks of gas. searched the interweb and found a few guys having the same issue. what they said is that when the cylinder was flooded the gas washed the cylinder rings of oil then seeped by into the oil pan. what they did was drain the cylinders out, change oil and oil filter, then add a cap full of oil to each cylinder and let it sit for about a hour before cranking. now i was wondering if anybody from here has done this or has any input on how to unflood your motor?:ugh:

i dunno why you would add a cap of oil... i guess they are thinking it'll seal the rings? only happened to me once, i let it sit for a while then unplugged injectors and cranked.
if you have the wrong injectors or your orings are fckd, it'll keep happening.. flood it bad enough and itll hydrolock

1. Pull your plugs and crank the starter a few time. I'm not shitting you. Just don't do it on a warm engine. Also you'll probably need to replace your plugs.
OR
2. You might be able to pull the electrical harnesses to all the injectors and then try to start the car. Try it again a few times until the car catches and dies and then plug the harnesses back in.
If it's flooded bad you'll have to replace your plugs (I can't stress this enough.)
Bigger thing to worry about is why was it flooded in the first place?
