I was putting on my RDF oilpan and i noticed a hole in the girdle that I figured the dipstick should be coming thru I guess to go into the oil pan, but It wasent. Is it supposed to? Should the dipstick be into the lower oilpan because I dont think mine is. the motor is a Redtop s13. I dumped like 5 quarts of oil into it and its just touching the tip of the dip stick.

Here is a comparison of both SR20 type lower baffles
Yes, the dipstick should protrude into that little hole, and into the lower pan. 5 gts is 1 to many, so I'd check to see how far the actual metal dipstick tube is into the block (Just use a screwdriver and a hammer it back down) and or if you have the right dipstick.

5 qts if you have an external oil cooler. maybe? Dipstick tube flange should be mated all the way down to the block.

Thanks guys, Yea R&D factory says its a 5 quart pan in the instructions but most people say they never get that much in there. I gotta check to see if my dipstick tube is sitting all the way down. When I got the motor the dipstick was broken so they gave me one of another redtop, maybe the tube got shifted when what ever broke the original hit it.

I think my dipstick is too short, Im having my friend measure his redtop dipstick. I saw a post where the guy who measured his was almost 22" from end to end, that would make mine 2" short.
