91 ka24de.
basically installed a new cylinder head. got everything back together in order. all the timing marks are on point. except for the distributer. so the car runs, but runs pretty shitty. my concern is why the car is overheating i have a new waterpump, coolant is there everything looks good but rite wen i give it any gas the temp gauge shoots up. can bad timing cause this? any input would be appreciated! thanks

AYE MAN THIS IS KADEEM!!!

ild say yes but i havent worked on a ka24de. my sr had heating issues when the timing was off plus i had spark blowout(which i didnt know at the time). so even after i got the timing right it still ran like shit and heated. checked the plugs and replaced them. havent really had an issue with heat sence

bad timing can cause melted piston issues, or bent valve issues.

Yes, bad timing can cause you to run hot, but as far as overheating I'd look more at making sure your cooling system is bled properly (have someone help you if you've never done it right before).

you were right. bled the cooling system properly. no more heating up

hope you had the heater (assumign you still have the system hooked up) at full blast while bleeding...cuz you might be in for a surprise next time you use it...
