hey guys, i just replaced my headgasket and the motor wont fire up. it was running before and once everything is reassembled, it will crank but not turn over. i have spark, fuel, but no compression.
i think it may be cam timing- i cant find any guides or anything on proper cam seating. i used the fsm and checked the mating marks to make sure they match up with the book.
or
maybe i set it at the wrong tdc since tdc comes twice. how can i tell if im in the compression cycle of tdc without using the cam lobes as guides(may be possible its off)
please help.. im starting to give up.

your timing is prolly way off... check ur timing.

even if that was off wouldnt i still get compression?

did you compression test it?, or are you just saying you have no compression because it dont turn over?

yea i did do the test. the gauge needle wont move! which means no compression? or am i doing something wrong.

your lower chain might of sliped
did u hold it up/jam it so it wont drop when u replaced the HG?

yes i did. i put a wooden piece just like the fsm said.

seems like your lower chain skiped/sliped
did u SET it at tdc and marked the chain/gear(loweR)
before u removed it?
are u getting fuel into the cylinders
check your feed/fpr return line if they are correct
check your dis. Restab it a few times
if S14 your rotor contactor part should be facing between the coil and the dis plug when centered with bolt

its an s13. im getting fuel for sure, and a spark. i dont have compression says the compression tester. i didnt the lower timing change though. i put a wooden block so that the timing chain wouldnt come off at the crank.
how can i tell if im on the compression tdc without guidance from the cams? is there anything else that would tell me its in compresstion tdc?

the crank marks
or use something long like the oil dip stick in the cylinder 1 hole

but with those methods, how do you know if its in the compression stroke. tdc comes around twice in a full cycle right?
