In case you didnt know, BLITZ has been in the works of converting a brand new GTR to rear wheel drive for Nomuken to drive in Japan's next professional D1 drift season. Here he is testing it out at the Nikko race track in Japan!

YouTube - Nomuken Drifts the Blitz R35 GTR (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vls0c9GiAM)

should be an exciting season for Nomura and his fans! (me)

Looks like it drifts (obviously because of the driver). But is the RWD converted GTR competitive??

Yeah I had seen this in the Volume 56 (I believe) Drift Tengoku video at my friends house. I can't wait to see this going all out at a D1 event!

why gay ass flames on the steering wheel...?

all show no go
04-22-2010, 12:14 AM
^^^ One of Nomuken's sponsors is KEY!S racing. That was one of their wheels from the FossaMagna series they did in collaboration with another driver. I guess he wanted flames on the wheel.

Car looks like its loaded with torque. 3:05 -3:10 shows him linking that awkward right turn by just pushing down on the gas a few short times.

you can see they have a few kinks to work out, i dont think its supposed to be squealing like that in the very beginning when he starts off with Abe-chan in the car, after all it was only a test run. you could also see how uncomfortable Nomuken was, he was out of his 4 door element...and put into the most advanced 2 door element lol.

its def guna be competitve. you could imagine a RWD GTR being a torque monster, hes guna make sooo muuch smoooke.

Thing looks like it handles as absolute shit!

My prediction, total fail.

although it looks like drifts like a fat pig. doesnt look as exciting as his 4dr. definately not as gangster. his er34 smoked like no other

yup, doesnt look too fucking agile and without being able to clutch kick it, I dont see it getting the angles to stay competetive. Well, itll probably be given biased points for being the only one in D1 driving a GTR but itll get old after a couple events.

cant wait to see if fully done. im assuming this is simply a test/trial, give it a few more months and im hoping this shit will have my jaw drop.

true, it doesnt have a cage yet. not even close to being done. i just looked closer, that shit is like all stock.
we'll see if they can shed the 200kg that it has over his er34

sucks, im a fan of his too. his old car made me love the 4dr r34.

edit: look at the way he's driving it though. he's just getting a feel for it. check out his initiation at 2:57, kinda turns in twice; the second turn in seems like it snaps kinda quick.

i think hes guna fair pretty well. the car is nowhere near fully completed. they still have alot to complete and make the car comfortable/competitively drivable for nomuken.

it was like prolly one of the 1st test drives for nomuken, it was a pure feel run for him. he wasnt going anywhere near all out.

Who cares about "competitive"?

It's the "OMG IT'S A FRIGGIN GT-R!!!!!!!" factor.

It will be in EVERY magazine, and on every fanboys mind.

Even if he puts it into a wall, it's going to sell magazines and videos, and fuel adolescent wet dreams.

Then again, this from an objective view of drifting to begin with. So make your own calls.

I wonder how they did the conversion. Nomuken is a great driver and I'm sure he will adapt to the car fairly quickly. Look at NOB when he switched over to the Altezza and still is gangster with it. The GTR just needs a bit more work.

From Autoblog
2009 Tokyo Auto Salon: Blitz brings RWD, manual-equipped GT-R — Autoblog (http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/15/2009-tokyo-auto-salon-blitz-brings-rwd-manual-equipped-gt-r/)

With the complex ATESSA-ETS setup and rear-to-front drivetrain removed, Blitz has created the first rear-wheel-drive GT-R and addressed one of the main complaints about the R35 – it's weight. While the stock seats remain (Blitz plans to fit a set of Bride buckets later on), it's nixed the air-conditioning and a number of other components, along with replacing several interior panels and the hood with carbon fiber pieces. A Hollinger sequential unit replaces the dual-clutch gearbox and a NISMO GT R34 LSD resides in the rear. The twin-turbo'd 3.8-liter V6 remains unchanged, but the exhaust has been swapped in favor of a Blitz cat-back.

I would imagine that it wouldn't be too difficult to add a button on the wheel to disengage the clutch. Yay, clutch kick with your thumb.

Robby Nishida is suppose to pilot a RWD R35 this year in Formula D, they didnt finish it in time for long beach last weekend.

I agree with this.

Does it make me want one? No.

If someone GAVE one to me and said "here ya go" i'd sell the thing and buy a REAL gtr.

Thanks for sharing.. Looks heavy and a little underpowered and or too much grip. Either way it looks they're headed in the right direction for sure.. With more power it really would be nice to see it in competition.

hate to bring this thread way back from the dead but since i started it....screw you lol. anyways i completely forgot that i saved this video and forgot to post it on this thread, but its only about a year old and its still pretty cool seeing the R35 go all out sideways

E-JmVf34gR0

not too sure what was done with this car, they may have scrapped the idea of actually competing with it due to the fact it might have been too expensive for body parts and what not but idk for sure...if anyone else has more input
