I currently have an rb25DET on my zenki, I wanna go big turbo Im aiming 570+ whp, I've recently got into drifting. I know with big Turbo comes big turbo lag. My question is if im looking to make nearly 600whp on a big turbo will that affect drifting as far as acceleration especially since im a beginner, or is there some way to convert my DET into a DETT( twin turbo) and that way I can have a big turbo for top end and a smaller one to eliminate lag while drifting? What would be the smartest way to get big power and not have excessive lag?:eek3d:
If going twin turbo is the best choice also what parts would I need in order to do the conversion?

If you have just got into drifting, you have ample power out of your 25 to improve your skill level before even thinking about needing a high amount of power.
In my opinion a parallel twin-turbo setup [like in the rb26] would be a lot easier than doing a sequential setup [like on the mkiv supra] but it is still a LOT of work and you would need 2 of everything which would ruin your wallet.

i have a 25 in my s13. i made 320whp with an intake exhaust and 12psi of boost. when i drift i drop my boost back down to the stock 6psi. you dont need 600 or even 500 to drift.
but to answer your question, i have heard of guys doing 26 heads on a 25, but thats a hell of a job. if you want big power with decent response, go with a 35r or a borgwarner of similar size with a nice manifold.

gt30/76r .63 = best turbo for that motor, 440-480 rwhp from 3700-7400rpm, 35r way too laggy for drifting. hell you'd be fine with what you have, or if you just want a little more get a 28/71 with a t3 exhaust housing.
250-290hp is fine for drifting. 600 is stupid and the car will have no power band.

holset hx35w is the way to go ( in my opinion) that what direction i am going with my rb25. They last forever , they spool quickly and i found by reading several compresser maps they are a perfect match for the rb

There is a reason why you don't see alot of people (if any) with RB25DETs converting and running DETTs. It's not cost effective for the minimal gain. If you want responsiveness get a turbo that matches the engine's exhaust flow characteristics. So in this case a 3071/76R, but even this is unnecessary to drift. Drifting isn't about power, it is about control and skill. With out control and skill, you can't drift. That was/is the beauty of drifting, even underpowered cars can be drifted.
I think you need to reassess your driving skill before you add power. Nothing is more dangerous than a skill-less kid tooling around in a 400whp+ missile with brakes.

^ lol very true, 300whp is plenty of power to drift.
