hey guys im just in the process of piecing my motor back together and when i have the motor upside down , i notice something on the water pump ... a hole. but this hole looks like it was there originally. Im thinking right now that if i put coolant in it when its back in the car , its gonna drain out this small hole.

this is a N1 water pump, just wondering if any of you guys on here have the same thing.

when i look into the hole and spin the pulley , i can see something spining on the inside.

here is a pic to see it better.

thanks guys.

Its normal its a seal that they put ont there when the seal goes it will leak and its time for you to replace the pump.

"weep hole"

he's correct, when it starts seeping, the bearing in the water pump is starting to die, and the pump needs to be replaced.

Every water pump has one. It's not just a Nissan trick, any engine that runs an external driven pump has a weep hole built in, this has been the case for decades. Sad you've never seen a water pump before.

yeah i know .. these water pumps so confusing . i dont even know how these things work... i mean why do you need them anyways ? i thought the coolant moves by itself ......
