You do know the S14 SR cams are VVT, right?

if you have an s13 sr with everything except cams in it and you just need to so you'll have cams in your motor, then yeah i don't see why they'd be a problem....with s13 cam gears on em obviously.

if there's nothing wrong with your s13, it's already a complete motor with cams already in it and you'd be doing it as an "upgrade" ...then i wouldn't bother.

had a buddy at mainstream performance here in GA call me the other day and tell me about an rb20 car he had there.

the guy tried to put rb26 cams in it.......ROFL...yeah, didn't work out so well. had they been installed correctly.....maybe it COULD have worked. i've done no research or heard of people doing that to say otherwise...but ughh...yeah...the car didn't run right, obviously why it ended up at a shop.

fwiw i can tell you that you can't run rb25 pistons in a rb26 or they'll hit the head at tdc, lol, seen that before.

nissan is awesome about interchangeability of it's parts....but sometimes...people try a little too hard.....to gain nothing but headaches and problems.

best of luck with your predicament

Dave

Please don't laugh at me....but...

I thought I read recently that the RB20/25 heads have SR style cams, with one lobe per rocker, and each rocker hits 2 valves.

But I thought the RB26 head had a bucket style set up, with a different lobe for each valve?

What am I missing?

you have been mislead sir

no dohc rb has rockers.

all dohc rb's have bucket shims...just like ka's. one lobe for every valve.

you also don't need to remove the cams in order to get to the head bolts on a dohc rb like you have to on an sr.....and 2j :)

when you get an rb to tdc, the stock cams have indentations in them so you can get to the head bolts. very convenient :D
